SEPTEMBER IS SELF-CARE AWARENESS MONTH

September is Self-Care Awareness Month! There is no better time than today to take a moment, and focus on how you can do a better job taking care of you. I can help!
- Sleep is medicine, not a luxury.
- Most adults need 7–9 hours a night, and consistently getting less is linked to higher risks of heart disease, weakened immunity, and mood disorders. If you wouldn’t skip a prescribed medication, don’t treat sleep as optional either — protect it like part of your treatment plan.
- Your To-Do: Try, for one week, to follow a bedtime routine that enables you to get at least 7 hours of sleep.
- Don’t ignore persistent symptoms “because you’re busy.”
- Fatigue that doesn’t improve with rest, unexplained weight changes, or pain that lingers past a couple of weeks are your body’s way of flagging something worth checking. Catching issues early almost always means simpler, less invasive treatment — waiting rarely makes the workup easier.
- Your To Do: Take a moment to focus on changes you are experiencing, whether it is that little twinge in your knee, your energy level, or a sudden weight change. These are indicative of something going on that is out of the ordinary. Schedule a time with me, let’s figure it out together, in a safe and confident environment.
- Movement counts even in small doses.
- You don’t need an hour at the gym to benefit — 20–30 minutes of brisk walking most days measurably lowers blood pressure, improves mood, and supports long-term heart health. Consistency matters far more than intensity.
- Your To Do: Stand up, set a timer, and walk-around the room, up the stairs, or take a stroll outside to enjoy the fresh air (the sun is an excellent source of Vitamin D!). Consider 20 minutes is about 6 of your favorite songs-hit that playlist!
